Myth #2

Mineral oil can advance the aging process and dry out skin.

This is totally false. Mineral Oil acts a barrier between the skin and the environment. Therefore, it actually helps to retain moisture in the skin. Therefore, Mineral Oil helps secure moisturization as it is an occlusive agent and will not allow water to leave your skin, it helps lock in moisture. On the inverse, it can help moisturize dry skin and assist in anti-aging to restore moisture to the skin. Mineral Oil is incredibly helpful for dry and sensitive skin types who struggle with retaining moisture in the skin.

Mineral oil helps to provide a healthy and safe barrier for locking in moisture.

Myth #3

Mineral oil prevents ingredient absorption.

This claim is completely unfounded. Mineral Oil may act like a barrier but that does not mean that it prevents other ingredients from getting to the skin. It will help ensure these ingredients get to your skin by locking them in. Do not worry, all of our skin-advancing ingredients found in our Spa Size moisturizers like Retinol, Coconut, Argan Oil, and more will deliver.

Myth #4

Mineral oil contains carcinogens

There is no evidence that mineral oil causes cancer. There is no evidence of this in any dermatological report or in registered medical journals. It is a rumor and a myth. Let’s put it this way, all ingredients must go through the purification process, even plants. This purification process produces Cosmetics-grade Mineral Oil. This is widely considered the safest, most nonirritating moisturizing ingredients for the skincare industry. This ingredient is certifiably safe, moisturizing, soothing, non-irritating, and healthy.

Mineral Oil is regulated by the US FDA, United States Food and Drug Administration. This is because it is one of the best, longest, and most trusted ingredients for healing and is found in various drugs. It is approved for use for these types of purposes: chapped skin, skin protection, and ahem, constipation. While our Spa Size moisturizers are not classified as drugs obviously, it's helpful for you to know that this is an ingredient is associated with skin healing. That's why we included it, along with many other superstars like Aloe Vera, an anti-irritant, and Glycerin, which is known to contain skin-healing qualities.

Myth #5

Mineral Oil clogs pores

No. Mineral Oil will not clog your pores. Mineral Oil stays on the outer surface of your skin and does not penetrate your skin. This is good because like mentioned earlier, it acts as a useful barrier. Sitting atop the skin, it helps to maintain a healthy and strong skin barrier. In other related and fancy skincare terms, it is highly noncomedogenic, which is another way to say it won’t cause acne.

The truth is this – there are many claims out there that Mineral Oil is unsafe and it simply is not true.
