Hello AC fans. All September long and into the fall, we are introducing our serums to you, but we also want to celebrate yoga, as it’s also National Yoga Month. We’d like to encourage you to develop a home practice and give you a loving reminder to listen to your body when you practice. #allaboutthebreath #septemberyogamonth #yogabalance
Yoga is an ancient Indian practice that is full of wonderful benefits like less stress, restful sleep, happier moods, injury protection, enhanced athletic performance, lower blood sugar, improved posture, and a slew of others. You get the point. With a yoga practice, you will feel these positive effects throughout all areas of your life. Universal yes to yoga, right?
Yoga means union, and to really embrace yoga, you can’t necessarily “rely” on any teacher. (But it helps to find a teacher you love!) However, like life, you have to rely on yourself. Unite with yourself AND your body and yoga will make sense. Practice and connect. Inner guidance and a teacher's guidance are they keys to a thriving yoga practice. Why practice though?
One of the primary purposes of yoga is to achieve a state of meditation. Moving through poses can often be looked at as “moving meditation” and many yogis practice actively and then passively sit in meditation after practicing with physical postures. Yoga is an exercise in achieving a state of bliss, a place of quiet. #yummybliss #om #peacefulstate
What a beautiful goal. And one reason why developing a home practice is such a lovely endeavor: to meditate. Since you are at home, there’s no limit to holding poses, laying in savasana (corpse pose), or meditating. You decide. You develop a connection with your body. You gain a sense of how long you should hold a pose. You gain a clearer sense of what your body needs. A sense of self-awareness and self-trust emerges. This beautiful understanding comes to you, the more your practice, the more you listen, and soon those modifications that seem overwhelming, make absolute sense.
Be open, be happy, and accept where you are. Don’t push yourself. Know your limits. If you feel too much tension, it’s not right. Release, or get out of the pose. Breathe into it, relax, and smile. Yoga is fun, and shouldn’t be causing you stress. Enjoy the practice.
Going to a class or practicing at home can both offer insights and benefits.
If this doesn’t make sense, trust me, the more you practice yoga, the more it will!
Happy yoga month and hope this helped inspire you to make yoga work for you. xo, from #advancedclinicals.
