Have you been feeling fried, frazzled, or just utterly stressed out lately? We may only be half way through February but things can feel pretty hectic around this time especially if you made some resolutions at the beginning of the year that haven't exactly been going so well. I have assembled five easy things you can do to blow off some steam and regain a sense of relaxation either at home or at work.
PUT DOWN THE COFFEE.
I know this might not be that easy for those who need our coffee fix every day, but it is recommended to switch out your daily cup(s) of coffee for glasses of water with lemon. This will help to hydrate your body while raising its pH level so you won't feel so sluggish throughout the day.
OPEN THE BLINDS
Artificial light can actually drain your energy. Letting in some natural light helps increase energy while improving your attention span.
GO FOR A QUICK WALK
Take 10-15 minutes of your day to go for a quick walk around the block; whether its during your lunch break or right before the kids get home from school. By letting your mind and body relax and declutter, you'll go back to your daily activities more refreshed and focused. If the temperature does not permit a walk, try yoga, which will soothe and emphasize mindfulness.
Even if you are not an expert in meditation, you can easily do the practice anywhere by closing your eyes and focusing on your breath. Simply breathe in slowly, hold it in for 5 seconds and then exhale as slowly as possible. Repeat this process until you feel like your mind is centered and present.
GIVE A BUBBLE BATH A TRY
While bubble baths may not be for everyone, it doesn't hurt to try it out. Gather up some essentials oils and bubble bath and let the bubbles and water wash away your stressful troubles. I recommend using lavender or rose oil for a relaxing trance.
